A classic effect, built for modern users - the EF-X2 MK2 couples the sounds you know and love, with features and reliability unimaginable in the past. In designing the EF-X2 MK2, the team here at Echo Fix began with the knowledge and insight gained from our work as the world's foremost experts in spare parts, servicing and repairing vintage tape echo units. Put simply, we know how tape echos should sound and operate.
We spent three years prototyping, rigorously testing, and meticulously designing in secret - while accounting for every possible application. We couldn't find a new production motor good enough so we made our own and invested in the latest high tech machinery to custom balance them in house here at Echo Fix. We could not find tape heads that sounded good enough so we had custom tape heads manufactured to our exact specs.
One of the other important things when it comes to reliable tape echo operation is the tape loop. We thoroughly researched tape and have a tape formulation that not only lasts a very long time but sounds incredible as well, that is how far we were willing to go to make the EF-X2 MK2 reliable and sound great!
What we have built is a warm sounding tape echo with a modern feature set that is at home in the professional recording studio, live guitar rig, bedroom production setup or in any other context you can dream up, we cannot wait for the EF-X2 to become an integral part of your creative process.

"During recording I am usually put off using tape echo units as I don't want to fall in love with a sound that I will not be able to replicate on tour. The EF-X2 enables me to record and tour with an amazing, consistent sound due to the quality and sturdiness of the design and construction." JOJI MALANI

I saw Olafur Arnald using the MKI I believe in concert .. had to have one ;)
My 80year friend came over to show me the old ‘The Shadows’ setting .. he has used all the echos since the 1960s, but he is going home to purchase one of these on line.. I said what’s the main difference, he said very quite with a full bodied sound .. best he has ever heard apparently.
Great sounding delay - love it! The reverb is no slouch either.

an inspiring tool
i have always loved delays. The DD-3 was the first pedal i bought as a teenager and i have since amassed a collection of digital and analog delays, granular, microloopers, loopers and so on as well as a whole world of plugins. Amongst those are some pretty sweet tape echo modellers but i have never owned an actual tape echo before. i got the fx mkii with the erase/play head mod and i am very happy with this unit. compared with space echoes i have used in the past gain staging is much more straight forward and it is easy to get good signal:noise ratios and no problems with susceptibility to ground noise or various hums and buzzes that i experienced when i tried a friends space echo. the machine is fun to use, i have it on an aux bus and have been sending everything through it, and have found that it can add something to pretty much everything. it is fun to play the feedback like an instrument and make morphing soundscapes. the preamp sounds like it has some subtle saturation and maybe a slight boost in that ‘warm’ midrange (quite pleasing) and the EQ controls are very flexible. I am most pleasantly surprised by the spring reverb; previously I have not liked the twangy bouncy sound of spring tanks but the spring reverb in this can be dialled in real nice and subtle and adds a lushness to anything without becoming the star. the dsp verb and chorus are also very usable. needless to say the build quality is exceptional. I have no regrets in buying this.

Echo Fix EF-X3 Tape Echo
I have been an instrumentalist for many years and echo has been my thing since I could first afford to buy one. I have owned multiple Roland tape echos and many different Digital Delays , my last one being a Boss RE-20 digital space echo. The guys at Echo Fix upgraded me to an EF-X3 and I have to say wow I love this tape echo. It is a top quality extremely well built unit and the sound is amazing. I have only started with this unit but I am already blown away with the variety of echo I can get and the spring reverb is amazing. This will be at every gig, recording and practice session now. Great piece of equipment and a great team you have. Thank you Echo FixThank you
