This product works great and sounds good. I got this for my RE 201 hoping it would be an upgrade sound. Maybe its slightly better...but not much. If your spring reverb works i would not recommend getting this as an "upgrade". Also, I had to screw new holes into the cabinette which I wish wasn't necessary.
Sounds great better than original one. I’m restoring the original spring reverb to sell. But leaving the accutronics on.
It's amazing how much affects the sound the fact of swapping the tank for a fresh one. Definitely recommended if you still have the original one inside.

I cannot compare, as I have not been able to use the original reverb tank in my RE-501. But this new unit, is very very cool. The sound is "ugly beautiful" if that makes any sense at all.
My only regret: Waiting this long to replace my broken one, thinking I wouldn't use it very much.
