A classic effect, built for modern users - the EF-X2 couples the sounds you know and love, with features and reliability unimaginable in the past. In designing the EF-X2, the team here at Echo Fix began with the knowledge and insight gained from our work as the world's foremost experts in spare parts, servicing and repairing vintage tape echo units. Put simply, we know how tape echos should sound and operate.

We spent three years prototyping, rigorously testing, and meticulously designing in secret - while accounting for every possible application. We couldn't find a new production motor good enough so we made our own and invested in the latest high tech machinery to custom balance them in house here at Echo Fix. We could not find tape heads that sounded good enough so we had custom tape heads manufactured to our exact specs.

One of the other important things when it comes to reliable tape echo operation is the tape loop. We thoroughly researched tape and have a tape formulation that not only lasts a very long time but sounds incredible as well, that is how far we were willing to go to make the EF-X2 reliable and sound great!

What we have built is a warm sounding tape echo with a modern feature set that is at home in the professional recording studio, live guitar rig, bedroom production setup or in any other context you can dream up, we cannot wait for the EF-X2 to become an integral part of your creative process.

"During recording I am usually put off using tape echo units as I don't want to fall in love with a sound that I will not be able to replicate on tour. The EF-X2 enables me to record and tour with an amazing, consistent sound due to the quality and sturdiness of the design and construction." JOJI MALANI

Outstripped all my expectations

The EF-X2 is perfect for instruments, a recording studio, or front of house.

I've been around. I've tried lots of them: EP2s, Dynacords, Copicats, obscure Soviet era units, and Space Echos.

The Echo Fix EF-X2  is by far the best. There is nothing comparable.  It's everything you want and need from a tape echo with none of the noise and problems. It's far outstripped all my expectations. I've rarely been so happy with the purchase of a new piece of gear.

I use it on vocals. It sounds clean and lush. It's gorgeous. The thing just rocks.

And customer service is superb.

I mean every word. Good job

The coolest thing i own

I basically use this on every track i make, even if i just use it for its top notch pre amp, space age reverb, twangy chorus, or amazing delay. It makes vocals sound so good.

Worth it

Guitar is my primary instrument. I’ve been chasing tape echo tones since the first day Radiohead released The Bends, and through the years I’ve had just about every high end delay pedal marketed to produce a tape echo effect. Since I wasn’t interested in maintaining a noisy artifact of the past, I convinced myself that modern pedals were plenty “good enough”. When I heard an efx2 for the first time, I took notice because here was something in a tape echo I hadn’t heard before : fidelity! The feature set was impressive and well thought out, too- balanced I/O, hiZ and line level inputs, expression pedal capabilities, real spring and dsp, how about chorus and defeat/blend switching? Motor kill switch? Yes, please!

Oh man. So glad I took the plunge and invested in this thing. The videos online don’t do them justice. The fit and finish is extraordinary; they’re quite beautiful. And let me just say a few words about using an efx2. It is a transcendental experience to play an instrument through a proper tape echo. I laughed to myself the first few minutes in because I remembered my previous convictions. This is not a pedal. This is an extension of the senses. Tape is visceral and alive. It just IS. I watched all the YouTube videos from “That Pedal Show” featuring the efx2. At one point, Dan says he gets lost in tape delay tones and I completely understand that now. I don’t hear the delays- I feel them. I become locked in these trances... bravely play things I never knew I could…

EF-X2 inspiration machine

The Echo Fix EF-X2 is the most inspirational piece of gear I own. It seems extremely well made and well thought out. And it sounds spectacular. I used to say that tape delay could not be that much better than pedals, but this thing is on a different level entirely. It might all be in my head but so what, as long as I'm inspired. Do I recommend the EF-X2? You need to treat yourself to one of these. It's one of those things you need to experience before you're six feet under.

Sublime

Apologies, I'd been holding off writing a review because I didn't want my first impression to be my only impression -

I'm a guitarist, not an engineer or producer (besides working on my own music - 'Kaleidoscopic' on iTunes, Spotify et al. for the curious) so my delay related knowledge was strictly limited to pedals & their applications.

I can say that after 3 months, my first impression is still my only impression & I needn't had waited to write this review: This unit is wholly wonderful. I'm using it for textures, to impart space & character on rhythm guitars, leads, bass, percussion, & vocals.

You don't need to read all of these reviews to draw the correct assumption. Check out a video about them, look at the names associated & imagine yours there because you've bought an EF-X2.

There is no risk involved with these, no buyers remorse, & I'm telling everyone I know about them.

E.
