EF-X3 Tolex Enclosure Chorus Echo with BBD Analog Chorus & Spring Reverb

The EF-X3 With Tolex Enclosure Chorus Echo is the latest offering in Echo Fix’s line of tape delays. Built in Australia, to the highest quality, the EF-X3 includes many of our most requested features and builds on the momentum and trust gained after 3 years of making the EF-X2.

100% Analog
Now with an Analog BBD Chorus & Analog Spring Reverb, the EF-X3 boasts a 100% analog signal path.

Individual Playback Head Outputs for stereo effect from mono source
Individual outputs for each playback head offer flexibility never seen before in a tape echo, with the ability to achieve a classic Stereo Ping-Pong delay effect from a mono source by panning each playback head externally via a mixer or DAW.

Unmatched Reliability
On top of this, we’ve implemented a new auto tape stop circuit to extend tape life.

Same Team, Same Peace of Mind
For nearly 15 years, we’ve been keeping tape echos alive. Now that we make our own, our standards are higher than ever. Rest assured that your machine will be the most capable, reliable tape echo on the market, supported by a team with some of the best customer service in the industry.

It’s Alive
If you’ve been in a room with one of our units, you’ll know what we mean by this. Used as an effect, they simply make everything sound better. But turn up the echo volume, dial in some feedback and watch as our unit self-oscillates into life and becomes an instrument more than an effect. The EF-X3 will change the way you make music.

The greatest echo device ever!?!?

The greatest echo device ever created?

I have always wanted a tape delay. Particularly a multi head unit. But finding and maintaining a reliable RE unit just seemed too tedious, so I was a BBD guy. Perhaps psychological, but digital delay and modulation just doesn’t feel right, nor does digital reverb. I’ve always avoided a/d and d/a conversion between my guitar and speaker cab. Luckily, there are some fantastic BBD delays and modulations to choose from, and nothing beats a well implemented spring reverb.

So when I saw the EF-X3 added BBD chorus, there was no contemplation. I NEEDED this unit.

And not only did it meet my expectations, it blew them away! Construction is top notch. The tape mechanism is a work of art. The balanced I/O and multiple outs make this a dream creative tool in the studio…and the delay sound quality…from pristine duplication at full speed to musical degradation at slowest speeds, and repeats that fade to a diffuse, reflective reverb. Plus the EQ option to keep the repeats from muddling up the direct sound when subtlety is desired. Everything about the EF-X3 tape effect is magical. And don’t forget the chorus…the BBD has plenty of fidelity to yield a shimmering chorus and a vibrato that doesn’t sacrifice high end. And the spring reverb is solid. Tuned well for having return mix only and short spring tank.

I feel like a new path of my musical journey has been laid before me with the acquisition of the EF-X3. I just want to plug in and play!

Love this device

Love this device. Sounds amazing. I haven't found anything that it sounds bad on. Guitars, synths, vox all are enhanced. Effect goes from subtle to all enveloping and everything between. The tone is incredible and I've been using it every time I play music since I got it.

Wish it was all tube. Wish I had a few more routing options with the verb and chorus. And I wish there was a way to have a switchable option to have the individual head outputs on the back mirror the knob output selection on the front. Maybe they could sell a "mixer" module that lets you take all the outputs on the back and send them to stereo or quad out based on the knob on the front. Volume control over the individual heads would be interesting.

Also hoping that they will publish a schematic and maintenance manual so that if they ever go out of business, these things don't become paper weights.

A source of inspiration and creativity

Online videos don’t do this justice. They help don’t get me wrong, but you have to be in the room to really appreciate that aliveness. I ordered mine with the Erase Head Mod, which I absolutely suggest adding for anyone interested in this unit. The plethora of outputs, the CV controllable features, the sound (ahhh), the feedback, the preamp tone when pushed, analog chorus, real spring reverb all working together. Fantastic build quality. Fast shipping and great customer service. Thank you EchoFix.

Stellar Build and Sound Quality

The EF-X3 brings a warm, organic delay that adds unique character to your sound. Unlike digital delays that can sometimes sound sterile and precise, the analog tape echo offers a natural degradation over time, creating a rich, textured delay that feels alive and musical. The subtle saturation of the tape effect brings an authentic vintage charm that is perfect for adding depth and complexity to your tone. Crank up the line in and you can distort, and smash your signal(preferably drums) into oblivion, and yet still sound warm and wonderful.

In addition to its stellar sound quality, the EF-X3 boasts a stellar build quality. Every aspect of this unit reflects a commitment to excellence. The Tolex finish adds a touch of vintage elegance, while the solid, road-ready design can withstand the rigors of touring. This combination of impeccable sound and robust construction makes the EF-X3 a must-have for any serious musician
